Background

Climate Smart Hebron

The Town of Hebron joined Clean Energy Communities and Climate Smart Communities in December 2021 to put into practice clean energy actions, save energy costs and adapt to a changing climate.  These are coordinated programs run by the NYS Energy Research and Development Agency and NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, respectively.

Local governments play a critical role in affecting energy choices in our communities, both in terms of government operations, and also across homes, businesses, and community institutions.

Municipal leaders increasingly recognize that clean energy and reducing greenhouse gases is not just good for the environment. Using resources more efficiently is helping save taxpayer dollars.  These programs provide grants, coordinator support, and a clear path forward to local governments that demonstrate leadership by completing high-impact actions.
